About Aussie Redbacks
The Redbacks were first formed in 2001.
The teams are made up of players who compete in the Victorian Baseball Masters Competition.
The team was formed after discussions between Stephen Black and Ian Hubble with assistance from Andy Dale.
In 2002 the Redbacks entered a 35+ team in the 2002 World Masters Games that were held in Geelong, the Redbacks (playing as Victoria Redbacks) were eventual Silver Medalists going down in a close 2-1 result to the Seadogs (USA) in the what was the teams only loss for the tournament.

At the 2005 World Masters Games in Canada, the Redbacks (playing as the Aussie Redbacks), entered 2 teams, one in the 35-44 age group and one in the 45+ age group.
Both teams went thru the preliminary rounds undefeated and both played thru the medals rounds and in the process came away as Silver Medalists. The 35-44 team again went down against their arch nemisis, Seadogs, (USA), 6-3 and the 45+ team went down against the Alberta Red Soxs 8-4.

In 2007 the Redbacks entered a team at the MSBL World Series Masters that is played yearly in Phoenix Arizona. A great time was had by all as the series is played on some of the best baseball grounds anywhere.

In 2009 the Redbacks entered a team in the 45+ Competitive division of the World Masters Games that werwe played in Sydney Australia. The Redbacks went on to win the Gold Medal after defeating the Golddiggers in the Grand Final.
